Blackjack game video for Jerry at Jetacer
Jerry:
Thank you for loading the deck that is heavy on aces and 10-value cards. It really helps iron what's going on with the insurance situations. The game plays really well, really fast, and looks great. I'm really pleased.
There are two final things I wanted to ask about.
1. The deck seems to be shuffling after about 35 cards are dealt, or at the end of that hand. It makes me think we have one deck programmed. Would it be possible to go to four decks?
2. I noticed something unusual happening when we have a player blackjack, insurance and a dealer blackjack. It's shown in the hand on the video, above, at about 57 seconds into the video.
It made me do a double take, because two chips from the insurance win remain on the table after the other chips have been removed back into the player's balance. All the other chips are removed, but two chips remain on the insurance line after play.
My original bets for the hands shown on the video were $10 per hand. At 0:57 into the video, the player is dealt blackjack, the dealer is showing an ace and offers insurance. The player takes insurance for $5, and the $5 chip goes onto the insurance line. That's all perfect.
The dealer checks and has blackjack. The original bets push, and the insurance bet pays 2 to 1. The player's balance increases by $25 -- the correct amount for the original bet ($10), the insurance bet ($5) and the insurance win ($10). Again, perfect!
The original bet chips disappear, but two $5 chips from the insurance win stay on the table. As they move, it looks like only two chips are ever on the insurance line, giving the viewer an incorrect impression that his $5 insurance bet was paid with only one $5 chip instead of two $5 chips. (I slowed the video down but can only see two chips.) Meanwhile, the player's total balance increases to the correct amount, telling me that the program is paying the insurance bet correctly, and returning the player's insurance bet to his balance correctly.
Oddly, the two chips remain on the insurance line, even though the amount has gone back into the player's balance. They don't move until you hit "deal" again.
Can we fix this somehow? The simplest solution would be to have those chips disappear, too, when the player total goes up.
Thank you again. I think that
Dennis
