February playing card review:
Gemaco "Freddie's Club Casino" gemback playing cards
We recently received a supply of new, sealed Freddie's Club casino cards, and are offering them here at the Key West during February. They're one of our favorite decks for all-around use -- at the poker table and especially the blackjack table. They're Gemaco "Gemback" cards available in two back colors -- red and black. The backs are "full bleed" (no border) backs in Gemaco's "Gemback" design.
They're unquestionably casino-quality decks. These decks are the "Freddie's Club" version of the decks made for many casinos by Gemaco, and identical cards are in use across the United States in many casinos.
The decks are poker size, with jumbo pips. The pips are recessed, as you see in the center photo, so they can be used with a dealer peek mirror at a casino blackjack table. If you don't have a dealer peek mirror, you can still use these decks. If you do have a dealer peek mirror, these cards will work perfectly with it.
The faces are traditional and nicely done, and the card backs are excellent in both quality and appearance. The decks are coated paper, not plastic, but the quality and feel of the decks are both very, very nice. They bend easily and handle and shuffle effortlessly, even when new. They come in a full tuck box with a casino use note area, and a window to show the deck color.
We note that these are not used, clipped decks. They are factory-new from Gemaco, and come sealed with the tear tape intact.
Each new deck is $2.95, a bargain price for a very nice deck of true casino-quality playing cards.
